If you feel differently, let me know.

THE REGULARS

Each individual has their own taste in music and that’s fine. What I will be talking about is how I feel about the quality of Hip-Hop/Rap music today.

I feel, *notice that I said that “I FEEL”* that at least 65% of today’s Hip-Hop/Rap music has no clear content, beats are of poor quality and the artist isn’t really who they claim to be. Yeah, I get it, it’s entertainment, but there has to be some sort of line of integrity. Especially when it pertains to you’re character and the person you’re portraying to the rest of the world. Before you get bored and I lose you let me talk about those 3 categories I mentioned above. They are: no clear content, beats are of poor quality and the artist isn’t really who they claim to be.

No clear content. Lyrics make no damn sense. (If your favorite rapper is…

THE REGULARS

I’ve been pretty quiet about this topic, but now I feel the need to speak my piece. (As I say in all my posts, please keep in mind, that this is MY opinion and my opinion alone. I don’t go out and conduct polls, but I may ask a friend every now and again some questions or how they feel about a specific subject and I conduct research on the topic, but that’s where it stops. If you don’t like what I say, when you feel offended, stop reading. Now that we have that settled lets get on with it.)

On Saturday morning, August 9, 2014, at approximately 11:51 a.m. in St. Louis County, Ferguson, Missouri, Mr. Michael Brown, 18, was suspected of taking a $48 box of cigars from a convenience store without paying for them. According to the video, you can see an object in his hand, but…

Screwface World Music Interview

Today’s post is going to be a little different as you can tell by the title. I’m not sure if everyone is going to participate in my first interview ever, but we will see. If so, I will compile the answers in an organized fashion.

1. Were you born and raised in Camden, New Jersey? If not, then where?

2. With new artist emerging and trying to make a name for themselves everyday, what keeps you focused, grounded to not get sucked into the “today’s generation” cookie cutter mold?

3. After listening the majority of the Screwface catalog, it’s obvious to see the progression in the sound and the content, lyrics, etc. is there a subject that you will not rap about?

4. I understand that at the end of the day, the bottom line is providing for your family and presenting a quality product, are you willing to work with an artist in today’s industry that is reckless with lyrics and their behavior (for example: false flagging or not paying enough [money problems])?

5. Other than the obvious reason, why should the consumer support the Screwface World Music Movement?

6. When or what inspired you to become an emcee/rapper?

7. What is inspires you to keep grinding?

8. If you were not an emcee or associated with the music industry what would your career path be?

9. Off the wall question: do you remember your very first 16 you wrote? If so, would share it?

10. If a major label offers to signs Screwface World Music, being that the money is right, would you do it or would you want to stay independent?

11. Last Question: What are the Pros and Cons when the conversation is about a Major Label vs an Independent Label?

Still Non-Believers?

If you haven’t bought or got a free download of ThreeDay, I have no clue what is wrong with you. This album is flawless. I know that I’ve mentioned that before, but you will never know, because you won’t take the time to either support the movement by purchasing a copy or even downloading a free copy.

What’s going to happen is this movement is going to continue to grow then you will want to jump on the Screwface jock, but by that time it will be too late. Support the movement. I promise you that you will not regret it. If you purchase the album and you can honestly tell me that you don’t like the album and you have a strong argument, I will give you your money back, that’s how confident I am that this album is on fire. Please, prove me wrong. I’ll be waiting.

Screwface World Music is more than a label, it’s a movement. Get on or get rolled over, that simple.

#THREEDAY, Classic Status? Yes!

I know it’s been a minute since I’ve posted something to the Blog. Since the release of THREEDAY, it has taken off and is spreading like a wild fire. Traxx Trigga, Don Michael, Jr, put his soul into this album. This album is already a classic. You won’t find ANYTHING wrong with this work of art. I’m willing to put my car on the line. That’s how confident I am that this album will reach classic status before the end of the summer.

I told you that Screwface isn’t just a label, it’s a movement and it’s rolling homie! Trillz! A lot of you like to hop on what’s hot when it starts to heat up. Screwface has been hot. Support the movement:

7 Days Until #THREEDAY

5.20.2014, ThreeDay Release Date. Make sure you lock that date in on your calendars. Let’s take Hip-Hop back.

1Day + 2Day = ThreeDay. Make 2Day your day. -DMJr

“Dear Me, Let’s talk for a minute, we made a promise, we would talk that we would talk real soon, so let’s talk about the elephants in the room. It’s one over here, its one over there, hold up, wait wait, there everywhere. Problems, Issues I got’em, sit down for a second let’s talk about it.” -SBC

5.20.2014 #ThreeDay

After listening to ThreeDay for the 100th time, with every listen I try and put myself in the same space as Traxx. This album isn’t just a classic project, it’s a project that you can apply to your daily life. I’m not looking at this project as someone that had the privilege to listen before the release date, I am coming from a fans perspective.

This album is a breath of fresh air for Hip-Hop. You can zone out and be taken to another level physically, spiritually and mentally. This project is so deep. In every single track you can hear the pain, struggle and frustration that Traxx has experienced. It’s almost as if you are living his life. Every bar makes sense, there is nothing out of place. Every strike of a snare, hit of an 808 and adlib is strategically placed. How many albums can you name in the current state of Hip-Hop can you say is without flaws? In my opinion, not many. What a lot of people don’t know is that Traxx is running a record label, producing beats for some of the music industries so-called hottest emcees, engineering for other artists in addition to a number of other titles.

Screwface World Music isn’t just a label, it’s a brand, a family, a way of life. As I’ve said many times, every single artist on this label is making music for the love of music and not for the accolades that come with it; however the accolades are an added bonus. I still don’t understand why we as fans of Hip-Hop, put blinders up and only listen to what’s on the radio? Everybody complains about the state of Hip-Hop, but they are not willing to step out of the box, because that would go against the grain. In addition to stepping outside of the box, the majority of major record label executives don’t have their ears to the street. They depend on someone else to tell them what’s hot. When in reality, what they think is hot, only turns out to be a trend. Today, it’s about getting a hit single, but what happens when Hip-Hop is tired of listening?

Traxx Trigga, SneakerBox Chock, Bueller Da Don, Shotti, Husk E Fresh and Nyce Daytona are extremely talented artists, but they are being drowned out by trends. In 20-30 years from now, how do you want to remember Hip-Hop? I want to be able to turn on my music player (whatever it may be at that time) and be proud of what my generation had put together. Many people will argue that they don’t want to go to the club to listen to lyrics, if that’s the case, instead of an artist combining sub-par lyrics with a nice beat, why not just release the beat so people can dance. I don’t know. It’s frustrating at times, but you can’t let it get to you. With every single album that is associated with the Screwface brand, you can listen from the first track to the last track without skipping. One day all the pieces will come together.

ThreeDay release date: 5.20.2014. Make sure you support the movement. “We don’t adhere to the standard, We create it.”
